DEAR1This half term Great Baddow High School will be launching DEAR. (Drop Everything and Read).

On Wednesday 7th June during period one, all Year 7 to 9 students will be dropping everything and reading!

Subsequently, every Friday tutor-time students in Years 7 to 10 will be reading for pleasure along with their tutors and teachers.

Pupils will be able to choose books from the school library or bring in books from home.

In this computer driven world we live in, we sometimes forget the importance of reading and all the benefits it brings...

People who develop a reading habit statistically do better at school, get better jobs and are happier, healthier individuals!

Please could we ask you to support this important activity by checking your child has a reading book to bring to school for Wednesday and then every Friday, encouraging and discussing your child's reading at home and maybe even picking up a book and reading with your child yourself!

Regards,

Peter Gibbon.

Assistant Headteacher.

Consultation - Sale of Land

The Governing Body is currently considering selling one of our smaller, very rarely used fields to raise funds to build a new science block and full- sized astroturf pitch.

We believe that the sale of this land will enable us to build an excellent science facility whilst improving the important outdoor sports space by providing an all-weather facility for year round use, benefitting our own students and members of the community.
