DEAR1This year DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) will take place during tutor time over two days, this is to incorporate assemblies. These sessions will begin on Tuesday 12th September for years 9 and 11 and Wednesday 13th for every other year group.

Years 9/11 - Tuesday tutor time.

Years 7/8 and 10 - Wednesday tutor time.

We will also have a DEAR session during lesson time once a half term that is on the whole school calendar.

The first DEAR session for this half term will take place on Monday 11th September during period 1 at 9.30 until the end of the lesson.

Pupils will be able to choose books from the school library or bring in books from home.

In this computer driven world we live in, we sometimes forget the importance of reading and all the benefits it brings...

People who develop a reading habit statistically do better at school, get better jobs and are happier, healthier individuals!

Please could we ask you to support this important activity by checking your child has a reading book to bring to school for Wednesday and then every Friday, encouraging and discussing your child's reading at home and maybe even picking up a book and reading with your child yourself!

Regards,

Peter Gibbon.

Assistant Headteacher.
