Welcome to Great Baddow High School Sixth Form
With approaching 280 students, the Sixth Form is a vibrant part of the school where students strive to fulfil their goals. We want students to be happy, safe and successful.
The Sixth Form seeks to ensure that all students have a vision of what they want to achieve; work hard to access higher education or their career pathways and are able to gain a number of enrichment activities.
We hope that we can work together, so that many of our current Year 11s can stay on to share two more years with us and also to welcome students from other schools to experience everything we have on offer.

Academic Study
All students have the opportunity to study either A Levels, vocational courses or a combination of both. We have three pathway opportunities open to students. The pathway they can chose will be based on their 'best 8 scores at GCSEs, including maths and the best English grade'.
If a student has not passed GCSE maths or English, they will be required to resit this when they join the Sixth Form.
| Pathway One 36 points or above | Between 36 -39 points, students can access our vocational courses. If their vocational course is equivalent to 2 A Levels they can take one additional course from the options available. The course options would be discussed for suitability. |
| Pathway Two 40 points or above | If a student achieves 40 points or more, they can take 3 A Levels, or 2 A Levels plus the Level 3 AAQ in I.T: Data Analytics with an option to take Level 3 Core Maths or EPQ as a fourth choice. |
| Pathway Three 60 points or above | If a student achieves more than 60 points, they can take 3 A Levels and are required to take the EPQ or Level 3 Core Maths as their fourth subject, or they have the option to take 4 A Levels. |
For A Levels, we recommend a minimum of a Grade 6 if you have taken a GCSE in that subject. For some subjects, e.g. Chemistry and Physics, a Grade 7 is required. For more details of the requirements needed for each subject, please see the course guide .
Enrichment
Although academic success is important, it is also important that students have a number of opportunities for students to enhance their time at our school. These activities will change on a yearly basis but examples might be driving schools, yoga, Basic Sign Language, first aid or photography.
This helps students to gain more life experiences as well as helping to work towards a sense of well-being. These might be run through staff or qualified specialists but also students can help to run activities for others too wherever possible. Students can also take part in events to help support either local or national charities. Our students have also produced a sixth form magazine ‘ The Eagle’.
We are also proud of our Netball academy, which allows girls to develop their ability in netball but also receive support on their academic performance.
