We are proud of our school and our students’ achievements. To celebrate these, and to promote the school, we may capture digital images of students during lessons, events and activities. These may be used on displays within the school or to promote the school externally, for example through our website, social media channels or school prospectus.
Regulatory advice from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) have advised that, if we are capturing digital images of students for promotional purposes, we can rely on our 'Legitimate Interest', and we will work under the assumption that digital images can be captured unless a student advises us otherwise.
If a student does not want their digital image to be captured the student must either: notify the school office in writing by emailing marketing@gbhs.co.uk from their @gbhs.co.uk school email address. If a student opts out, their record will be noted accordingly. If they change their mind at any time and wish to opt back in, they should put this in writing to the school using the email address above, or notify the photographer at the time photos are being taken.
If a student poses for a photo, we will assume that consent is being given for that particular photo or event. Please note: It is the responsibility of the student to opt out of having their image taken either in writing or at the point photographs are being taken and parental notification cannot be recorded.
We will request parental consent for students under the age of 12 when they join the school in Year 7.
