GBHS Hosts Maths Olympiad for Girls
Back to Latest NewsGBHS hosted the Maths Olympiad for Girls and Maths Competition for Girls for the first time this year. Both competitions are fiercely challenging and provide a springboard to mathematical Olympiads and Olympiad-style problem-solving for female students.
Chiara L and Ella T (Year 13) participated in the Maths Olympiad for Girls (A 2.5h competition of five extremely difficult algebra and analysis problems that reach branches of mathematics not conventionally covered in secondary school and often not at university level either) scoring just below the benchmark for gaining a Merit.
Asli G and Olivia H (Year 13) participated in the Maths Competition for Girls, (A 90-minute paper, where five complex mathematical problems in areas like algebra, geometry, and number theory are ‘answer-only’).
We would like to congratulate them all as they performed exceptionally well both on a national and international schools’ level.
"The GBHS Maths department is enormously proud of them!"
