The theme for Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 was connecting with nature. During the pandemic, many people have turned to nature, with going for walks outside one of the top coping strategies and green spaces were considered vital for mental health. Nature is central to psychological and emotional health and Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 aimed to inspire more people to connect with nature in new ways.

To support this, Year 12 psychology students researched how spending time in nature can improve our mental health and wellbeing. Over the course of the week students from across all year groups took part in a range of activities to include a nature photography competition, nature trails, sunflower growing competitions and caring for a pet plant.

The Year 12 Psychology students are pleased to announce the winners of the Nature Photography Competition. We had so many fantastic entries and what was great to see was how much enjoyment everybody had taken in the objects of their photos.

1st place – James F (7A2)
2nd place –  Maddy C (10A1)
3rd place – Ethan E (10E2)

Special mention also goes to entries from the following students:

Ava M (8E2) – Best wildlife expression

Credits have been awarded for all winners and entries.
